telepathy logger does not store stuff in .purple directory, this is where
pidgin log stuff.

Please check that logging in enable for your session (not sure on UI side, but
the dconf path is app/telepathy-logger/enabled).

Also, it would help if you manually run the logger and provide complete logs
(as attachment please).
 TPL_PERSIST=1 TPL_DEBUG=all /usr/libexec/telepathy-logger

Fix the path if your distro is not using the standard one.
