I don't believe I'm doing that (i.e. something behind Empathy's back).
I just have ofono + telepathy-ring + empathy installed on my Freerunner
phone. Then I send an SMS from my Skype account (running on a different
computer) to the Freerunner's phone number, and see what happens. Does
that sound OK?

As I mentioned, I'm definitely seeing something in the debug log for
incoming calls, so they're definitely getting part of the way up the
stack.
In any case, voice calls are going to be way more complicated to get
working fully, because of integrating with the Freerunner's audio
system, and I guess it wouldn't be at all surprising if something to do
with the media handling was causing the lack of UI notification. So I
guess it makes sense to focus on the easier SMS case first.
Many thanks for your input,
Neil
