There was the previous work done on OTR here

as far as I understand it, it was nearly finished, yet somehow completely died.
Maybe one of the senior devs here can shed some light.

The proposed ChannelSpec is a lot more extensive

and has the full exposing of keys and peer authentication and closing
sessions and such.
