Can global settings be shared between different connection managers?

E.g. the location of trusted root certificates, the list of codecs to
enable, STUN and TURN servers?

Or does each CM have to ask for these details itself?

For root certificates, is there any other standard way to determine the
default location in the Linux desktop, or should it just use a compile
time default?
