Ok, excellent feedback, thankyou. Sounds like the earlier changes I made to 
Render.cc, which I'm now aware don't behave (or even draw at all in a couple of 
  places)... unfortunately this must be where most of waimea's drawing happens. 
When I can find the time I'll sort that out. Thanks for your help.
