            Bug ID: 101140
           Summary: Expose an acceleration setting
           Product: Wayland
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: Other
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: libinput
          Assignee: wayland-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: pointedstick at zoho.com

Linux distro: openSUSE Tumbleweed
libinput version: 1.7.0-2.1

There are lots of complaints about Libinput's touchpad acceleration magnitude
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98535).

There is a simple solution: make it user-configurable. Pointer acceleration
preference is no less subjective and user-specific than pointer speed
preference; an exposed acceleration setting would fully resolve the issue so
you don't need to rely on the subjective impressions of a bunch of internet
randos to come up with a reasonable default for millions of disparate users and
hardware devices.
