When I run that I get:

$ aclocal; autoconf; ./configure --prefix=$HOME/install
/bin/bash: /home/darxus/wayland/missing: No such file or directory
configure: WARNING: `missing' script is too old or missing
configure: error: cannot run /bin/bash ./../config.sub

$ automake --add-missing installing `./config.guess' installing `./config.sub' installing `./install-sh' required file `./' not found installing `./missing'
clients/ installing `./depcomp' required file `' not found

And then when I rerun the configure:

$ aclocal; autoconf; ./configure --prefix=$HOME/install
config.status: error: cannot find input file: `'
