Sorry, you misunderstood me. I wanted you to *define* the behaviour for
the protocol specification. I did not claim it has to be configurable
in the public protocol.

The definition could be for example: "The scaling method is a best
effort. However, scaling must be done, so that the visual appearance
will correspond to the surface coordinate system." And I do not propose
this is the right definition, it is just an example of what you might
define.
