XCBPollEvent has no means by which it can report I/O errors, and I can
make XCL apps spin calling it by killing the X server.
I wanted XCBPollEvent to have the same type signature as XCBWaitEvent,
where a null pointer returned unambiguously means an error occured. That
won't do here.
Any suggestions?
