I'm no longer maintaining the X stack but anyway: I think it'd be a good
idea to keep your packaging changes in a debian/wheezy-backports branch
if you're going to handle the backports.

[ Now on my way to unsubscribe from the PTS -- this package is a bit
special: maintained by XCB developers and not by Debian X maintainers
