Sure, I've been maintaining free software projects on my own spare time so I know how it goes, no worries!

Yeap, that's exactly the approach we took, but it can cause some trouble when people also have an "upstream" version installed from sources somewhere on their system. Arguably a broken setup but something that happens sometimes.

That's a very good idea! 

Let's give it some more time to see how the other fixes go and, if needed, we'll do that if everyone agrees.
