writing C program for X

Hi,

I have to write a C Programm that's gets and sets the mouse-focus on
different Displays. I searched the web for API's or DOC's about C
functions - but I had no luck.
Has anybody some links to DOC's where i get these Informations. 

Any hint would be usefull - It's the first time I work with C.
