alternative to X-KDE-SubstituteUID for non KDE desktops

hi,

a user of a KDE apps asked for an alternative to X-KDE-SubstituteUID for non

After some investigation, i found this thread "Mini-proposal for Elevated User

i would like to avoid gksu dependency for a KDE apps. Do i need to provide a 
specific desktop file for each desktops ? or Is there a common way to elevate 
user privilege ?
