Although this is particularly ironic when at the moment there is exactly 
one open source XLIFF editor that is still initial development (that I 
am aware of) and several mature PO editors. So "locked in" is actually 
more true for XLIFF than for PO at the moment.

Which is what makes all these open source XLIFF-related projects so 
important...
