Summary: Can't get Xserver to start with ATI X300 SE
Product: xorg
Version: 6.7.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Driver/Radeon
AssignedTo: xorg-bugzilla-noise at freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: roland_cutaran at earthlink.net
Hello,
I'm having some problems getting Fedora Core 2 kernel 2.6.8-1.521 to use my
128MB PCI Express X16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X300 SE video card. I tried
following the directions at
http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2028, and it seemed to
work, but the Xserver still wouldn't start. I loaded the
fglrx-4.3.0-3.14.1.i386.rpm, and I noticed that it sisn't list the Radeon X300
SE, but I know it's based on the 9600 sseries (which is on the list). The X300
SE is based on the RV370 chipset 5b70. Looking at the xorg.conf file I see that
the FireGL driver includes this revision/chipset, but it still doesn't work.
Is the ATI Radeon X300 SE just too new, and not supported?
Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.
