It sounds like mingw has the same problems in that respect as Darwin.
There is some code to conditionally determine whether or not to set
HAVE_ALIAS.  I believe that this code should be removed, and
'-DHAVE_ALIAS' should be added to the compile command line on platforms
that support it.

I'll remove the code from Mesa if ajax can add the right build
mechanisms when Mesa get merged again. ;)
