I guess my thought is that since font embedding is not an issue for
the wqy bdf fonts, ie that they'd only be used as screen fonts, does
the viral nature of the gpl make any practical difference?

(and apologies for the abiguity; I should have only quoted the first
sentence as I did this time....)
