Wow, what a mess. I can't make much sense of this. :(
We should probably be careful not to mix up too many experiments though.
If you add only Option "NoAccel" to the config file you started out
with, what happens? If that doesn't work correctly, there's something
seriously wrong, and likely not in the driver.
Here's a long shot: Can you try not loading the synaptics module? It
probably doesn't work correctly anyway as it's in elfloader (.o) instead
of dlloader (.so) format.
