              ============   ANNOUNCEMENT!  ========

The next X Developer's Conference is scheduled on February 7-9, 2007.
The location is not yet firm, but we are looking at two possible
locations. One is in Santa Clara, CA, and the other is in Menlo Park, CA.

Please refer to http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/XDevConf for the
latest updates on our planning.

At this time, we are making a call for papers, session leads,
or intent to attend.

To express your intent to present or lead, please submit a title asap.
A complete
abstract ( less than 200 words ) describing the topic and possible
related work would
be even nicer.

We are interested in varying the format this year, specifically to
include breakout
sessions and workshops. Please think about leading a sub-event, and we
can get
an exciting schedule put together that leaves virtually no room for that
afternoon nap.

As in previous events, we will make an effort to include developer talks
from the entire range of the desktop stack, and have ample support for
informal breakout sessions, hacking and socializing.

At this time, there is no limit on attendance. We still have
a choice of venues, but we do need to develop a headcount as early as
possible. So, if you have either presented or attended previously,
or even considered attending previously, we would like to receive email
from you, expressing whether you do or do not expect to attend this year.

Last year I said:
Looking forward to seeing you at the next X Developer's
Conference in
        sunny Santa Clara, CA!

But it was drizzly all week, so no promises this time around. Just Be There.
