Lockups When Logging Out

Hello all.

I just joined the list and I hope this hasn't been beaten to death.

Using xorg 7.0 on Ubuntu Linux 6.06. Video device (on board) is Radeon
XPRESS 200. It shares system memory.

When I use the fglrx (ATi 3d accelerated driver) I get hard lockups when
I try to terminate my xsession. Screen goes black and the keyboard is
unresponsive as in I cannot change the Num Lock status, etc.
ctrl-alt-backspace does nothing. If I try to use ctrl-alt-backspace from
an X session, I get the lockup, also.

I get the lockups regardless if I use GDM, KDM or startx. I get the
lockups regardless if I use Gnome, KDE or XFCE.

Attempting to change to a virtual tty via ctrl-alt-f1 through f6 also
causes the same lockup.

Some have found apparent fixes or work-arounds with their particular ATi
cards. I have not.

None of the fixes or work-arounds in the above thread seem to work for
my particular on board video. Lockups occur regardless if I'm using my
Linux distribution's fglrx driver or ATi's commercial version.

If I change the the non-3d accelerated ATi driver, the lockups go away
and all is well, excepting of course I no longer have 3d acceleration.

I realize this is most likely an ATi problem, but any help or
suggestions for modifications to my xorg.conf file (see below) would be

Thank you.
