Changing XKB options without being root

I get it now:

setxkbmap -print    displays the current XKB options
setxkbmap -option    deletes all the options (2 single quotes for an
empty argument as you suggest also work; I previously misread it as 1
double quote)
setxkbmap -option <option>    sets an option
