X forgets numlock status when switching between screens

Hi all,

a few days ago I installed kxkb for my KDE desktop because I wanted to 
make X enable NumLock after startx. Of course it did enable NumLock.

But when I switch from X :0 to X :1 and back to X :0 the X :0 session 
doesn't remember that NumLock was active. But this also happens when 
switching from X :0 to console and back.

I found an error in my Xorg.0.log:
(EE) Error loading keymap /var/tmp/server-0.xkm

Dunno if that is related.

Any idea how I can fix this?
