Tried that, but the Xserver even could not load the VNC module due to
undefined symbol VNC_CONNECT. Missing vncInit.c in
hw/xfree86/vnc/Makefile.am (didn't check this yet)? Can you confirm
this?

I'm therefore testing now the Mandriva patch. I didn't know that it is
based on the modular tree of xf4vnc.  Looking closer now I'm probably
also missing

  dispcur.c
  sprite.c

in hw/xfree86/vnc/Makefile.am. Thanks for the hint!
