Just to jump in - it fully utilizes both monitors by allowing
independance. Without it, you're stuck with one large desktop, instead
of two PLUS the virtual desktops on each. It allow you to open, say
documentation, on one desktop and apply that to any other window on your
other desktop.

In my case, it's rather pointless to run Firefox on my 'right' monitor
on each virtual desktop, when I could just run it once.

You can also actively work on one monitor, switching between desktops,
while 'monitoring' processes on another.

Otherwise, again IMHO, either you're not using virtual desktops as
efficiently as possible by replicating windows, or you're unable to
continuously monitor that process.

Just my .02.
