startx results in an error or a black screen

Thanks for the respons.
attached are the logs of the three
modules loaded. as well as dmesg.
the xorg.conf is the standard generated by
X --configure

this is what I see after startx

Backtrace:

I can supply stderr
(I just need to know how).

as for the nvidia module, as soon as I purchase the right ie1394 cable
I can try and grab the info during the black screen.
