Thank you Mike,
That did it. But the server still says:
Xlib:  extension "XFree86-Misc" missing on display ":0.0".

So why would the man page say the rate comes before the delay in the 
args list?
What a &*@#$@%#&$ man page!!!
Even --help specifies the args backwards.
