(I know I've composed this mail before but it's hard to tell if it
ever made to the list)

'link only' importing from a feed, storing the metadata already
happens -- it's called 'sample pool' . I just say this (again?)
because trying to make a content manager work without the content is
stretching the purpose of the code too far, whereas the sample pools
are *exactly* for links to remote content where we don't know anything
other than what's in the feed (artist, title, url, license, etc.)

To do what you want should be a matter of exposing on a web page what
is already happening internally on a remix upload that searches and
references a remote sample pool feed.

Another example: It appears I have never checked it in but I have a
script that downloads the official CSV file from Magnatune of it's
entire catalog, and diffs and imports the new material it into the
Magnatune sample pool.
