[Clipart] why no meta-data keywords with the images ?

Hi

   While I cannot answer definitively, the answer is probably because 
the tags are being kept in SQL database for fast searching.  Placing 
them in each image would be hard to keep in sync as tags are 
added/removed from images over time.

   An alternative solution would be for you to use the API and query the 
metadata about the image you are using, rather than using exiftool to 
read the image directly.  The API is at 
https://openclipart.org/developers
