there's kinda a convention for config files in /etc to use the .conf 
extension...

<evo Xfont> locate .conf | grep '^/etc' | wc -l

but, .cfg is used a bit as well.  If you have a strong opinion, I won't 
object, but it looks like .conf wins on my box at the moment.
