[Xorg] Get rid of checkerboard

Why does Joe User have to see the checkerboard?
If the display manager are configured right and startx 
is patched so that the Xserver receives the -bg option
he will never get to see it.
Besides, the checkerboard has prooven to be useful to
adjust flat panels and projectors.
