Hello Newsgroup!

I recently bought a Samsung X20 1730 V Notebook which comes with a standard
Centrino-Chipset and an Intel 915 GPU. I installed Gentoo-Linux following the
gentoo-wiki howto: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Samsung_X20

When it came to configuring X I had various problems: In
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Samsung_X20#DRI.2C_Xvideo_and_co. it is
described that for DRI I have to patch the xorg-x11-sources and in
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-364512-postdays-0-postorder-asc-start-0.html
it is described in detail howto patch the sources.

I have tried xorg-x11-6.8.2 and xorg-x11-6.8.99.15 both with and without the
patch and again both with kernel 2.6.12 and 2.6.14 (gentoo-sources). From my
tests I can say that the kernel-version doesn't seem to play a role, I always
get the same errors.

Unfortunately with none of the xorg-x11-versions I was able to get X running.
The only way I found out was to install xorg-x11-6.8.2 (no matter whether
with or without the patch) und then replace the
self-compiled /usr/lib/modules/drivers/i810_drv.o with the binary driver from
alan hourihane from http://www.fairlite.demon.co.uk/intel.html .

Summary:

Tested with:
    xorg-x11-6.8.2 / xorg-x11-6.8.99.15 with and without patched lnx_agp.c
    gentoo-sources-2.6.12 and gentoo-sources-2.6.14

In any case the x-server refuses to start with the Errormessage:
    Fatal server error:
    no screens found

I have attached two Xorg.0.log's. Xorg.0.log is xorg-x11-6.8.99.15 (not
working) and Xorg.0.log_working is xorg-x11-6.8.2 with Alan's
i810_drv.o-binary (working!).

I'm not so familiar with xorg, but what I found interesting was, that
notworking-log says:
(II) I810(0): Currently active displays on Pipe B:
(II) I810(0): CRT
(II) I810(0): TV
(II) I810(0): DFP (digital flat panel)
(II) I810(0): LFP (local flat panel)
(II) I810(0): CRT2 (second CRT)
(II) I810(0): TV2 (second TV)
(II) I810(0): DFP2 (second digital flat panel)
(II) I810(0): LFP2 (second local flat panel)
(II) I810(0): Some unknown display devices may also be present
(II) I810(0): Lowest common panel size for pipe B is 1400 x 0
and working-log says:
(II) I810(0): Currently active displays on Pipe B:
(II) I810(0): LFP (local flat panel)
(II) I810(0): Lowest common panel size for pipe B is 1400 x 1050

I'd be thankful if you could have a look at my logfiles and tell me a way, I
could continue debugging this issue...

Thanks, Christoph
