Ok, to get you all up in arms and start the discussion again:

I want all libraries that are not used by plugins gone from the
gst-plugins package. Most of them should probably be moved into a
gstreamer-gnome package together with the stuff in gst-player.
This is gstplay, media-info and gst-gconf.

To give you some reasons for this:
- gst-plugins are meant to be plugins.
- We don't want to include all sorts of stuff in the plugins package. KDE
stuff is already in a different package for example.
- We are nearing API freeze. All this stuff is nowhere near API stable.
And it never was during the 0.6 cycle either. We might want to make API
instable releases with that stuff, anyway.
- There's probably political reasons for this, too.
- Package handling is easier. You can just refuse to build a gst-gnome
package if there is no GConf. That won't work for gst-plugins.

nautilus-media should probably be put into that package, too. Though I'll
leave that up to Thomas or whoever is the maintainer of that thing.

Benjamin

PS: I'd like to get that done before 0.8, so we can add cool features to
gst-gnome after 0.8 is out.
