it would limit it to 1 video and 1 audio stream

in the case of radio broadcasted via satelite, there's only one PID
(an audio one)
in the case of TV/Films, there could be 1 video + 1 audio per language
or 1 AC3 + 1 stereo

all this is per channel of course

so, imho, a pid list without any type attached could be better
