Have you tried using the 'about-to-finish' signal of playbin yet to
achieve "gapless" playback? (The time for the new source to preroll is
not very large, so if there's lag for the second uri it won't be
seamloss, but that's the easiest way to make it work).

What do you mean by 'media type change'? Uri protocol? Format?
