tune x264enc for RAM usage

Hi everyone,
Any experience with tuning x264enc to lower it's RAM consumption? I get
about 1.5 GB for live video streaming. I would like to cut it down to
something like 500 MB. But the description of options I get with
gst-inspect is only mystifying.
I was thinking to tweak multipass-cache-file, threads and others. But there
are so many, experimenting could take days.
My stream options:
"width": 1280,
"height": 720,
"framerate": 20,
"video_bitrate": 256,
I am not 100% sure it is x264enc, but what else could that be taking 1.5 GB
RAM? If you have time to take a look, I attach the dot file from the
process that causes this issue.
Thank you,
Yakov
