Not if you don't be able to force your users to use a recent HAL version. 
KPowersave e.g. support: recommended: >= 0.5.8.1 and without this change it 
would also work with 0.5.10 without changes. Now we have either to double the 
calls to check both names of possible policies or to fill the code with 
ifdef's

The big problem is that RC1 of HAL 0.5.10 (which already had a dependency to 
the new released PK v0.4) is already out some weeks and this change would 
obsolete all testing in this area.

The soname doesn't IMO matter, should be no problem.
