@Sjoerd: Could you please check if the quirks are still valid, by ask the 
reporter to test them again (X and console) and test also these quirks (I 
have a valid report with them):

  power_management.quirk.vbe_post = true
  power_management.quirk.vbemode_restore = true

The output of this command would be helpful if the new quirks don't work:

  lshal -lu /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer
