> I think, since linux 5.9 where a fork is no longer setting up COW on pinned pages, and we do in fact still pin pages, I think this fence wait should be removed, together with the PF_EXIT special case, as it does not improve on anything but creates hangs that only hangcheck / watchdog can resolve. > I think we can improve a lot on the locking here by having the object lock protect the object state and only take the driver-wide notifier lock in execbuf / userptr_invalidate. If we in addition use an rwlock as a notifier lock taken in read mode in execbuf, any potential global lock contention can be practically eliminated. But that's perhaps for a future improvement.
