Do you intend for oil to be a drop-in replacement for liboil where it
is used in other free software projects? Are you intending to do that
kind of maintenance and integration work (ie. helping other projects
with the migration to modified libraries)?

The goals you have are useful, so perhaps the existing liboil
developers could help ensure your modifications can be used by other
projects. In particular, things like the hashtable optimization you
have could be merged incrementally.
