I think these are the fundamentals of LGM.

In many aspects, we have succeeded in these goals over the years.

We can certainly make our "code" better, but overall the program works well!

We do have some weaker parts but I am not sure they related directly to
LGM. Handling money is one. Organising the event in a different
city/country is another. From the participant perspective, I think those
weaknesses are below their radar. People concentrate on people and they are
mostly very happy to be there.

I still think it’s a good idea to travel from one city to another, despite
some difficulties, some times. At the same time, I don’t think picking a
city and a place where to host LGM would be a downer. After all, isn’t it
"meeting" that counts more?

We have tried to make the venue decision making over a 2-year period in
order to ease the work and we now have this opportunity again, which is
great.

I wonder whether we could, as others do (only Pycon comes to mind now but
there are certainly others), make LGM happen 2 years in a row at the same
place? The rationale behind this is there are lots of organisational
details that can be simplified the next time. There is more but I try to
keep my intervention short! :) (not my best quality!)

I don’t think having LGM 3 years in a row in Europe is a deal breaker with
the community. We had Vienna, Munich and Leipzig in such a stretch already.
Of course, we don’t have that much data to analyse whether this sequence
has weakened LGM but I would be encline to answer no to that question.

I think it’s more a question for the organising team. Are we ready and can
we succeed at making LGM happen year after year with the "new city"
parameter every year? There are other related questions we could raise to
stimulate the discussion and help us make sure we cover all bases.
