Now that my Debian 9.3 32 bit is working  (YAY!), I thought I'd try to install
mame from the "unstable" repository.

What's interesting is that the performance is much better under Debian 9.3.  In
looking at the frameskip display with F11 it's running at pretty much 100%
without skipping frames at 640x480.

I'd say that the video performance on the VE900 is easily double what I saw on
Ubuntu 18.04 64 bit.

I wonder if it'd be any better performance with more than one memory DIMM if it
were running Dual Channel Memory.


mame -switchres -resolution 640x480 pacman

I still had the same issue about going from

1920x1080 -->  640x480   (top line chopped off)
800x600   -->  640x480   whole screen displayed
