Hi,

This is to say that I had the same problem (monitor turning off at X startup),
and this was also solved by modifying the bios from CRT+LCT to CRT only. I've
posted a message on this list in November (posted as CyrilB), but had no time
to investigate further until this week. Thanks for the people who answered me
at this time.

Caution: I set it first to LCD only by mistake, but I had to reset the BIOS
defaults (I suppose the LCD setting is for directly driving a LCD panel?). The
correct setting appears to be CRT, even for LCD monitors!
