I don't know the *BSD details but you need drm and I think it's supposed
to work with *BSD as well as Linux though building it will be different.
Others here and/or on the old unichrome list (archives at
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=38837 ) have made
it work, I think.
