Exactly.  I record my content using ATSC tuners, so it's all HDTV, or
up-converted HDTV, or at worst, SDTV, but still using 720p or 1080i
resolutions (just padded/blocked to fill in the missing 'data').

However, I am fortunate enough to have 1 HDTV capable display in my
house, the remaining TV's are old school to really old school.  One
has composite input, the other actually has component (and S-Video and
composite), but only accepts interlaced up to 576 (I think, it is 5
something) but no progressive at all on any input.  So for that TV, I
use the S-Video output as I get no benefit using Component due to the
lack of support of any higher resolution (yes I do get a slightly
better picture than S-Video, but from any computer I've hooked up to
it that works so far I'm hard pressed to see any difference).
