Nothing, I would think: only one virtual terminal exists at any one 
time.  Or are you able to see the contents of say VT1 from say VT2?

The inactive screen doesn't even exist when you're on the other one, 
I would say.

You mean font resizing in your browser?  Or did you mean to say 
Ctrl+Alt+- and Ctrl+Alt++ (on the numpad), to switch resolution?

Did you try?  Is the TV output generation not simply skipped when an 
invalid mode is selected for it?
