[Openchrome-users] Using TV resolutions without TV encoder

Hi,

I have a EPIA EN15000G board which is a CN700 / VT1625.

Previously this was outputting to a PAL TV on the SVideo and the hardware acceleration was working. The only drawback was an amount of overscan.

I now have a TV with VGA input so I am trying to get higher quality using that connection.

What I would like to achieve is:

1280x720p 50 Hz for MythTV GUI but 720x576 for my Standard Def video playback (staying below 1024 to get hardware acceleration). MythTV lets you do this provided your video provides the resolutions you want.

I have tried setting the TV type to 720p and this outputs 1280x720p 60 Hz and the TV displays it without overscan. :-) Problem is I cannot then get 720x576.

Unfortunately when I try any modelines I can find, either the TV does NOT display them (even 1280 x 720 / 60Hz) or it defaults to 1024x768.

In the Openchrome source I found the following lines:

>>>>>
MODEPREFIX("1280x720"), 74600, 1280, 1341, 1474, 1688, 0, 720, 721, 724, 746, 0, V_NHSYNC | V_PVSYNC, MODESUFFIX },

MODEPREFIX("720x576"), 32663, 720, 744, 816, 912, 0, 576, 576, 579, 597, 0, V_NHSYNC | V_PVSYNC, MODESUFFIX },

MODEPREFIX("720x480"), 26591, 720, 736, 808, 896, 0, 480, 480, 483, 497, 0, V_NHSYNC | V_PVSYNC, MODESUFFIX },

MODEPREFIX("1920x1080"), 172900, 1920, 2043, 2249, 2578, 0, 1080, 1081, 1084, 1118, 0, V_NHSYNC | V_PVSYNC, MODESUFFIX },
<<<<<

I am thinking these are the modes used for the different "TVType" values. What I don't know is how I would make a modeline from the above information !

Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction (or have a xorg.conf for a similar setup ?)

More info:

MythDora 4 (Fedora Core 6) with Openchrome from here http://washington.kelkoo.net/epia/FC6/i386/ which I realise is a bit old - but I am waiting for MythTV 021-1 !

Any help appreciated.

Ian
