Ok, I tested this using your patch and writing my own to expose it in the Qt4
frontend and at least using qpdfview with locking reduced from per-document to
per-page, it seems to work like a charm! Thanks for the great work.

P.S.: Should I try to attach my patch based on yours here as well or should I
rather wait till this hits master to rebase?
