Comment:

 The device name is intended to be something "technical". It is not
 necessarily something a user would want to read. For example: if HAL is
 used the sink/source names become something like
 "alsa_output.pci_1106_3059_alsa_playback_0".

 The device name is for technical people. The device description is more
 useful for non-technical people. pavucontrol is nor non-technical people.
 paman is for technical people. Thus the current behaviour makes a lot of
 sense.
