Which "tar" should be used to pack the X11R6.8.0 sourcetarballs ?

Erm... I wasn't even thinking about replacing any existing release
tarballs... I just wanted to figure out whether any special procedure
was done to ensure that the tarballs unpack properly on all platforms
(I'd like to make snapshots from the X11R6.8.2 release branch and like
to avoid that I screw-up the tar.gz archives in a similar way like
mozilla.org did...) - no need to worry... :)
