Do you yet have some concrete plans or features to tackle?

I would assume you would be helping Daniel get the atomic modesetting
landed in the first place. Might your work include automated DRM
testing or something like that, perhaps?

By that I mean using e.g. the display hardware CRC readback or image
readback to verify the output of the DRM-backend, or perhaps using
something like Google's Chamelium[1] to do the same at frame accuracy
to detect glitches, timing issues, and so on?

Or maybe something in the direction of drm hwcomposer[2]?

I don't recall what else there could be, so I will be very interested in
hearing about your plans.
